The Vrontianis Monastery, also known as Vronta, was built in 1566 by the monks Iakovos and Makarios and it is the oldest in Samos. It follows the pattern of a dome-basilica and it is well-known for its Byzantine icons and the old relics it possesses. The little library of the monastery, which includes books and codes from 1676 up to date, is of great interest.
