Samos, an agricultural region of the Near East area, was developed mainly by land cultivation. Village was the center of whole life in traditional society. The house of the village wasn't in the need of specific comforts. It was consisted of one room and was used only for sleep and food.

So, it was good enough for the fundamental demands. As an effort to make visitors become familiar with this special way of life, shop-fonts and labs were created so as to revive images from past. Agricultural tools had a great position in the Museum. These follow the farmers in activities and change because of the weather, to their conditions and seasons of the year.

In a special shop-front, visitors get to know the circle of bread, the shapes it takes based on the needs and the symbolic character that villagers attribute to it.

Moreover, there are the herders' tools which show the traditional way of cheese production, special shop-fronts for the fisherman, the shoe-maker, the basket-maker and the bee-keeper. In the same place visitors will meet a barbershop since the age of Samos domination.

In a suitably configured space, weaving exhibitions occur as well as local clothes, embroidery and various objects which represent the old local household.

In the Museum yard there are lab's replications which have been created with special care and visitors can come up with authentic tools used for many works in the traditional village.

Visitors will meet the old blacksmith's place of work, the jugs, the carpenter's lab and the places where leaves of smoke and grapes were elaborated, and also the distillery which were parts of its traditional household, as well as the cellar.

The Museum is influenced by the Samian architecture. Furthermore, in the same place you can meet the old washhouse, the wells and the traditional, homely bakeries.

The Museum has been organized with scientific and museum standards and is based on Nikolaos Dimitriou work.

Several educational programs for students are applied, which revive our traditional customs.

The Museum labs often work with old craftsmen so as to maintain the immediate contact between public , the exhibited, and its use.
